RADIO

Brandino's Ric Cairns is one of Western Australia's most respected radio advertising writers. His affinity for the medium may have something to do with a previous career as a successful radio announcer and voice-over. He continues to do occasional voice performance.

GULL 'BIRDIE'S' CAMPAIGN

Series of three spots to launch the then unusual 24-hour service at the 'Birdie's' convenience store at Gull's Burswood service station. 'Night and Day' was recognised at the national AWARD Awards.

ART GALLERY 'PRE-RAPHS'

Our briefing for the Art Gallery of WA's 'Pre-Raphaelite Dream' exhibition repeatedly stressed how radical this art movement was in the 19th century, rebelling against traditional art school rules. They drew parallels with the Sex Pistols in the 1970s - 'nuff said, mate...

SCITECH 'SPECIAL FX'

This is the radio spot that formed the audio component of a multi-channel campaign for an exhibition on the science of special effects in film. Each ad toyed with effects in the medium in which it appeared.

SCITECH 'EATEN ALIVE'

A commercial to promote an exhibition on predators. Returning to this spot became something of an annual event as it turned out to be an ideal platform for advertising students to try out the audio production process at the studio originally responsible: Brainestorm. AdSchool participants would re-voice each character.

FESTIVAL FILMS CAMPAIGN

If you're going to do a parody, it needs to first be relevant to the subject matter, and this one happily passes that test. Thankfully it also passed the second test: performers who can pull it off. Here are three of the six we recorded.

HOME 'SPLIT LOAN'

One of a series of product spots for (the dear departed) Home Building Society. Always fun to squeeze maximum meaning out of 'one guy talking'.
